— Why D4 Season
Scalp treatment, sized to the season you're in.
Seattle asks a lot of a scalp. From October into May it lives under hoods, beanies and drizzle — covered, damp, rarely seeing air. Then summer flips the script and it's sun, sweat and trail dust until September. The guests at our Shoreline studio almost never describe the same scalp in January that they had in July, which is why we've stopped treating scalp care as one product at one price.
D4 Season opened here in 2022 as Seattle's first specialized head spa, and the years since have mostly taught us range. The studio at 15507 Westminster Way N Ste 7E, just off Aurora, has seen every version of a north-end scalp: hat-flattened February hair, post-hike August roots, and everything between. That history is why our menu spans $50 to $220 rather than clustering around one number.
So this page is organized the way our regulars actually book — by depth, not by scalp type. A quick reset when the week ran long. A deep clean when the scalp needs real work. The full revitalize when you want everything we know how to do in a single appointment. One caveat before any of it: we're a wellness studio, not a clinic. If something about your scalp worries you — soreness that lingers, patchy shedding — start with a dermatologist. We're the appointment after the all-clear, not before it.
— Three depths
Quick reset, deep clean, or the full revitalize.
Think of the three tiers as answers to one question: how much has your scalp been through lately? The right depth on a random Tuesday is different from the right depth after four months of beanie weather. Here's what each level includes and costs. Prices are per session and identical at both of our studios, gratuity isn't included, and the durations are honest — a 90-minute treatment gets its ninety minutes.
The quick reset — 30 to 60 minutes, $50 to $85
This tier is maintenance and recovery. TCM Head Aromatherapy ($50, 30 minutes) is a head massage with a lavender-and-peppermint aromatherapy blend — mostly calm, minimally wet, easy to fit into a lunch hour. The Classic Head Spa ($70, 45 minutes, short hair only) adds a proper wash. The D4 Signature Head Spa ($85, 60 minutes) is the tier's full expression: scalp cleanse, shampoo and conditioning, an upper-shoulder massage, hydrotherapy and a blow-dry. During the gray months, plenty of Shoreline regulars use a Signature the way other people use a rainy-day coffee ritual.
The deep clean — 75 to 90 minutes, $110 to $168
Book this tier when the scalp has been covered, sweated on, or styled over for a season. The Aura Scalp Treatment ($110, 75 minutes) opens with scalp analysis and aromatherapy, then moves through deep cleaning to a finishing serum. The Luxury Head Spa ($135, 90 minutes) trades some of that for a hair repair treatment and a longer massage that reaches the arms and shoulders. Purifying Scalp Care ($168, 90 minutes) is the most cleanse-forward of the three — deep purification, scalp serum, red LED light — and the Floral Head Spa Therapy (also $168) takes the same 90 minutes in a more aromatic, flower-forward direction. Late spring, when the beanies finally retire, is peak season for this tier at our studio.
The full revitalize — 90 minutes, $220
Scalp Revitalize Therapy is the everything appointment: scalp analysis, deep cleansing, a double shampoo and conditioning, a steam hair mask, and an LED scalp serum infusion using our premium products. Nothing on the menu goes further. Guests tend to book it at the turn of a season — one thorough reset in May, another in October — or ahead of something worth showing up polished for. If you've been putting scalp care off for a year, this is the honest place to restart.
— Every depth
The four steps every session shares.
Depth changes the dose, not the recipe. At every tier the session runs analysis, then targeted treatment, then massage, then conditioning. Even the 30-minute aromatherapy visit begins with a look at your scalp, because working blind is how a treatment ends up generic; on the longer tiers that look becomes a magnified analysis, and the cleansing, massage and conditioning stages each stretch to match the time booked.
The analysis is also where we'll tell you if you booked the wrong depth. It happens more than you'd think — someone reserves a quick reset out of caution and turns out to be carrying a winter's worth of residue, or books the deep clean when their scalp mostly needed quiet. Moving down a tier is instant; moving up depends on the day's schedule, so mention it at booking if you want the option held open. Either way, the session that happens should match the scalp in the chair, not the button you clicked online.
Where the extra minutes go
The fair question about a $220 session is what it buys that the $85 one doesn't, and the answer is time on task. The cleanse covers the scalp twice instead of once. The steam mask sits long enough to actually work. The serum is infused under LED rather than smoothed on at the door, and the massage stops being a segment and becomes the spine of the appointment. Nothing at the top tier is exotic — it's the same four steps, given room.
Why the massage stays in every tier
We could shave ten minutes off any treatment by cutting the massage. We don't, and the reasoning is simple. Mayo Clinic lists massage among the ordinary self-care approaches people reach for when everyday head and neck tension builds up, and the NCCIH describes relaxation techniques generally as low-risk ways to settle the body. Neither is a claim about our menu — it's background on why an hour here tends to feel like more than grooming. The practical version: guests who arrive wound tight leave less so, and that's half of what they came for.
— Around Shoreline
North-end guests, in every season.
Westminster Way sits at Seattle's northern seam, so the studio pulls from both sides of the city line: Shoreline and Richmond Beach, north Seattle neighborhoods like Greenwood and Northgate, Lake Forest Park, Edmonds, and Lynnwood down I-5 or Aurora. Street-level parking is easy, which matters more in November than anyone admits.
Bookings here follow the weather in a way we can almost set a calendar by. Deep-clean appointments spike twice a year — late spring when hat season ends, early fall before it starts — while the quick resets hold steady year-round. If you want a weekend slot for a 90-minute treatment during either spike, reserve several days out.
Our Lynnwood studio runs the identical menu at identical prices if that drive is shorter. And if it's emphasis you're weighing rather than location, the scalp detox in Shoreline page frames this same menu around pure deep cleansing, while the full head spa hub lays out everything in one place.
— Plan your visit
Book a depth, not just an appointment.
First visit and unsure where to land? The Signature ($85) or the Aura ($110) are the two we recommend most — enough depth to feel what the studio does, without committing to the full ritual. Hours are Monday to Saturday 10 AM to 9 PM and Sunday 10 AM to 8 PM; book through the Shoreline page or call (206) 688-9700 and describe what season your scalp is having. We'll place you in a tier from there.
Arrive with unwashed hair if you can stand it — the analysis reads truer that way — and give yourself a spare fifteen minutes after the longer sessions rather than sprinting back to the car. Four years of doing this in Shoreline has settled one thing for us: the treatment works better when the leaving is as unhurried as the lying down.

— Common questions
Asked & answered.
What's the real difference between the $85 and $220 scalp treatments? +
Time on each step, not different steps. The $85 Signature runs the full arc — cleanse, shampoo, massage, hydrotherapy — in an hour. The $220 Scalp Revitalize doubles the shampoo, adds a steam hair mask and an LED serum infusion, and lets the massage breathe across 90 minutes. Same recipe, bigger dose.
Is the 30-minute TCM Head Aromatherapy too short to be worth it? +
Not if you match it to the right job. At $50 it's a head massage with a lavender-peppermint aromatherapy blend — a midweek reset, not a deep clean. If your scalp needs actual cleansing work, start at the Signature or above; if you need half an hour of quiet, this is exactly enough.
Does Seattle's weather actually change what my scalp needs? +
In our experience, noticeably. Months under hoods and beanies leave scalps flat and coated by spring, and sweaty summer weeks build residue of their own. That's why many Shoreline guests book a deeper tier at the season change and lighter resets in between. It's a comfort pattern we observe, not a medical rule.
What's included in the Scalp Revitalize Therapy? +
The full 90-minute sequence: scalp analysis, deep cleansing, a double shampoo and conditioning, a steam hair mask, and an LED scalp serum infusion with our premium products — $220, the most complete treatment on the menu.
Can I start with a shorter session and move up later? +
That's the path most regulars take. A Signature or Aura first visit shows us your scalp and shows you the studio; from there it's easy to step up to a deep clean or the Revitalize when your scalp — or the calendar — calls for it. Nothing obligates you to any tier twice.
What does “Seattle's first specialized head spa” actually mean? +
D4 Season opened in Shoreline in 2022 as the first studio in the Seattle area dedicated specifically to head spa and scalp treatment rather than offering it as a salon add-on. This location is the original; the Lynnwood studio came after and runs the same menu.
When is a dermatologist the better first call than a head spa? +
Any time the concern looks medical: pain, sores, bleeding, sudden or patchy hair shedding, or flaking that persists no matter what you do. We handle comfort and cleansing, not diagnosis or treatment — come see us once a doctor has cleared the medical question.
— Research & references
A head spa is, at heart, a scalp massage and a deliberate hour of relaxation. We don't make medical claims about it — for neutral, non-promotional background on the wellness practices it draws on, see the NCCIH on massage therapy , relaxation techniques , managing stress , traditional Chinese medicine and the Mayo Clinic on easing tension headaches . These are general educational references, not statements about our specific treatments. D4 Season is a relaxation and wellness spa, not a medical provider.
